Labret

A labret is the term for a piercing that is placed below the center of the lower lip. The name originates from the Latin word „labrum“, which translates to "lip". For this type of piercing, a specific piece of jewelry, also called a labret, is most commonly used. This jewelry has a flat disc on one end, which is placed on the inside of the lip, and an external thread on the other end, onto which a ball or other decorative component is screwed. The flat inner part ensures comfortable wear and minimizes contact with the gums and teeth. In addition to the classic central placement, there are also variations such as the "side labret," where the piercing is shifted to the left or right side, or the vertical labret, which passes directly through the lip tissue.
