Polyurethane silicone

Polyurethane silicone is the name given to a type of construction sealant based on the chemical polyurethane, not pure silicone. Although it is classified in the same category for its sealing function, its properties differ. The main difference is the ability to paint over this sealant after it has cured, which is not possible with most standard silicones. It also has high mechanical resistance, which means it is stronger and better able to withstand abrasion or pressure. As a result, it is used for sealing and bonding stressed joints such as expansion joints in concrete floors and walls, which are intentionally created gaps that allow movement of the structure. It is also used for bonding and sealing structural elements such as window frames or window sills where a strong, flexible and overload-resistant joint is required. It adheres well to materials such as concrete, wood, metal and some plastics.
