I waited to write the review until I really tested the functionality in all kinds of weather, reliability is the most important criterion for me for Internet connectivity. In short, I can recommend Starlink to everyone who needs a reliable connection and is tired of crawling 50Mb/s in VDSL with frequent outages when the network does not keep up probably due to the priority of TV. On the other hand, Starlink is probably irrelevant for someone who has a working optic at home. The service price of 1249 CZK/month is higher, but for those who have no chance to get another fast connection it is worth it. Typically, around 10 outages can be recorded daily, each within 1s, longer outages of around 15s do occasionally occur, but they are really rare. The response time varies somewhere between 20 and 30ms, the speed is typically around 250Mb/s download, peak even over 400Mb/s, upload runs somewhere around 20 to 30 Mb/s. Parameters incomparable to VDSL. The power consumption is 60W maximum, but it is usually around 30 to 40W, reaching up to 170W at boot, but only for about the first minute. Putting Starlink to sleep is not worth it in terms of saving electricity, because even when it is asleep it consumes about 20W. The supplied WiFi router has lousy coverage, so it would be sufficient for a smaller cabin. For reasonable coverage, it is necessary to switch it to Bypass mode and connect Starlink to the existing network and use existing APs. The orientation of the antenna in Prague is NNE, exactly 35 degrees, and the view must ideally be at 110 degrees with no obstructions. The problem is a little bit with the assembly, the added stand is useless, perhaps someone would have it on a table in the garden, so you can not do without buying a stand, but for this you have to make an account with Starlink and wait for delivery, so I miss the advantage of buying the kit from Alza, when Alza does not supply these parts. I luckily needed to do a mast mount and the Starlink mast mount is really unusable, so we ordered one on Ali for a fraction of the price and in a much more usable design. Alzo, really shipping a kit without assembly is half-hearted and doesn't make much sense. I run a VPN to a customer and frequent video conferences via Starlink all day long, all without any line disconnection or jams. Personally, I still operate a VDSL connection, where both providers are connected to the WAN ports of Unifi DM. At first I ran both operators simultaneously with 85% weight for Starlink, but then I found out that if Unifi does not split individual packets between networks, but the whole connection, so it is better to run only Starlink and keep VDSL only as an automatic backup.
