Vanish tempted me with promises of effectiveness even in short washes and gentleness to delicate laundry. It partially fulfils this - fabrics like wool or silk handle well and the colours stay nice. But stain removal is very erratic. It works well on fresh stains, but it doesn't handle older or oily stains at all. And if I have to wash the same piece twice, the energy-saving effect is gone. OK for normal washing, but I don't see it as a universal solution for stains.
