One of the strengths of the AVC-X3800H receiver is the object-oriented DTS:X surround sound format, which creates a realistic 3D sound field by placing sounds in the correct place in the space around the listener. DTS Neural:X upmixer technology ensures a more realistic rendering for older content, while DTS Virtual:X provides quality sound even without height or rear speakers. Virtual height sound effects can be created in a 7.1, 5.1 or 2.1 speaker setup. There is also the Auro-3D audio format with sophisticated three-dimensional sound that transports you to the centre of the action, whether you're listening to music, watching films or playing games. The Denon AVC-X3800H also allows you to play music in 360 Reality Audio format (with the appropriate accessories).
Four Outputs for Active Subwoofers
The Denon AVC-X3800H amplifier is equipped with four outputs for active subwoofers, which effectively balance low frequencies and thus ensure better sound dispersion into the space. There are no audible peaks or dips—just powerful bass that fills the entire room. If you connect more than two subwoofers, you can individually adjust their performance to your preference. The AVC-X3800H receiver can also function as an effective AV pre-amplifier with an HDMI (ARC/eARC) connection. By disconnecting the internal amplifiers, the pre-amplifier mode provides a cleaner path for the audio signal with greater tolerance at the clipping level.

The Denon AVC-X3800H supports HDR (High Dynamic Range), HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma), and Dynamic HDR and HDR10+ passthrough. HLG is specifically designed for television broadcasting and allows HDR content to be distributed without having to abandon existing standards. The HLG signal works on both new HDR televisions and older SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) televisions. Dynamic HDR and HDR10+ technologies then effectively use dynamic metadata to optimise shadows and brightness as scenes change. The receiver is also compatible with Dolby Vision, an advanced HDR imaging technology that delivers exceptionally bright pictures with realistic colour and contrast. The Denon AVC-X3800H amplifier supports 8K resolution, including the ability to upscale 4K content. It also features the latest HDCP 2.3 copy protection standard.
