Daith

Daith is a type of piercing that goes through the innermost cartilaginous lash of the ear, known as the crus helix, which is located directly above the entrance to the ear canal. The name comes from the Hebrew word "da'at" which translates to knowledge. A ring or horseshoe-shaped jewel is most commonly used for application to provide sufficient space for healing, which takes several months to a year for cartilage. This piercing is often associated with an unproven theory that it may help in relieving migraines. The assumption is based on the fact that there is an acupuncture point at the site, the stimulation of which should relieve headaches, but this method is not scientifically proven.
