Hooklink Lines and Braids

Hooklink lines and braids are materials designed for making the terminal part of the fishing rig, known as the hooklink. The hooklink is the section that connects the main, or 'running', line to the hook or bait. This terminal section has different requirements than the rest of the rig, as it is in direct proximity to the fish and often comes into contact with underwater obstacles. Commonly used materials include fluorocarbon, which is almost invisible in water due to its refractive index, is more abrasion-resistant, and sinks. Special monofilament lines with higher strength or, conversely, softness are also used. For some techniques, such as carp fishing, braided lines are utilized, which can also be coated. With these, a portion of the stiffened coating is removed to create a flexible joint for a more natural bait presentation.
