A lead core line is a special type of fishing line that has a lead core inside. Thanks to this core, it is significantly heavier than common monofilament lines or braided lines, which ensures its fast sinking and adherence to the bottom. The entire end tackle, professionally called a "rig," thus lies on the bottom, is less conspicuous, and doesn't spook cautious fish. It consists of a thin lead wire that is braided with textile fibers. The outer braid is usually in natural colors, such as brown or green, to best blend in with the environment and act as camouflage. It is primarily used as the end section of the rig before the hook when fishing for carp and other bottom-feeding fish.
