Sensor Size 1/2.3"

Sensor size refers to the physical dimensions of the chip inside a camera, which is responsible for capturing light and converting it into a digital image. The 1/2.3 inch (") specification is a standardized designation for the sensor's diagonal, although historically it does not correspond to an exact conversion to millimeters. It is one of the smaller sensor types, commonly used in compact digital cameras, action cameras, drones, and older or cheaper mobile phones. A smaller sensor area captures less light than larger sensors. This is particularly evident in poorer lighting conditions, where digital noise can occur. Digital noise is an image defect resembling graininess, which reduces the detail and clarity of the photograph. At the same time, this sensor size makes it difficult to achieve a shallow depth of field, which is the effect where the main subject is sharp and the background is blurred. Conversely, due to the small sensor dimensions, it is possible to construct smaller, lighter, and more affordable devices, including their lenses.
