This is a safety feature that protects the heat pump from damage caused by high temperatures. The heart of the device is the compressor, which heats up during operation. Should its temperature or the temperature of the refrigerant, which is a special gas inside the pump, exceed a safe limit, permanent damage could occur. Overheat protection uses temperature sensors to monitor key parts of the system and automatically and temporarily shuts down operation if a critical value is detected. This mechanism prevents serious and costly compressor failures.
