Status display

A status display is a small, usually monochromatic screen located on the top of the body of more advanced cameras. It serves for quick display and checking of key settings such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, battery status, or the number of remaining shots on the memory card. Thanks to it, the photographer doesn't have to turn on the main, more energy-intensive display on the back of the camera to check this information. It is most often a passive liquid crystal display, known as LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), whose main advantage is very low power consumption. This feature is typical for digital SLR cameras and more advanced mirrorless camera models.
