H.265 Video Format

H.265, also known as HEVC (for High Efficiency Video Coding), is a standard for video compression. Video compression is the process of reducing the data size of a video file so that it takes up less space on a storage medium such as a card. H.265 is the successor to the older and still widely used H.264 format. Compared to it, it offers significantly more efficient compression, which in practice means that the resulting video file will be about half the size while maintaining the same image quality. This is particularly advantageous for high-resolution footage such as 4K, which is very data-intensive. However, it should be taken into account that processing video in this format requires more computing power, and therefore older computers or mobile phones may have problems with smooth playback and editing.
