Wireless Backhaul

Wireless backhaul is the method by which a Wi-Fi extender wirelessly connects to the main router. The term "backhaul" generally refers to a backbone connection that ensures data transfer between individual network elements. In this case, the extender uses a Wi-Fi signal to communicate with the router and gain internet access. This same wireless channel, which serves for communication with the router, is subsequently used for connecting your devices, such as phones or laptops.
