Initially, I had some reservations about the almost square format of the reader, but these dissipated over time. The reader is comfortable to hold and the positioning of the buttons is very practical. The colour e-ink has slightly lower contrast than the black and white, but it's not so much that it distracts me. The colors are worth it.

I'm replacing the Kindle keyboard. So I wanted the flip buttons and the color e-ink was an added bonus. Right from the start, I was struck by the fact that without activating my Kobo account, the reader won't even turn on. I was disappointed with the colour display - it's bland without the backlight. But I was most discouraged by the contrast, which is worse than that of B&W displays. I ended up with a kindle paperwhite and I don't miss the physical buttons.

This is a truly beautiful product, with design reminscent of the discontinued Kindle Onyx. The colour is incredibly vibrant - the best I've seen on an E-reader. I hate to have to return it, but my Mac computer simply won't recognise it, and nor will Calibre. I note that this is a common complaint on online forums.
The design - the ergonomics - are beautiful, as is the font.
Honestly, the best and most vibrant colour I've seen on any E-Reader.
On these technical criteria, I would have given the reader a 5 star rating.
My recent - 2023 - Mac computer simply refuses to recognise the Kobo reader.
Calibre E-book management software also does not recognise the reader - even on my older laptop.
Kobo repeatedly declined both my credit cards - something that has never happened with my Kindles.
