Choosing a reader is a pretty individual thing in my opinion, so there probably isn't a best and worst reader. Everyone will probably like something a little different. I did a comparison of commonly available readers before purchasing opting for the Pocketbook 634 Verse Pro. Weight and compactness were pretty important features for me. I don't want my arms to start hurting when I'm reading in bed at night. I already had experience with the Kindle 3 reader and therefore I know that I missed the display backlighting a lot, it was also one of the reasons for buying a new more modern reader. The 6 inch display is fine for reading I don't need a bigger one. Connecting to the cloud is fine. Just like the Czech environment. The only thing I was worried about before I bought it was the speed of the display response. Yes Kindl seems faster to me but I got used to the occasional slower display refresh response pretty quickly and it's not too bad. And for the actual reading (which is the activity that is done the most with the reader), the speed of redrawing is normal.

The automatic Czech pre-reading is not fully tuned. It could use some work. I'm sure it'll get better with time. The English readings will probably be tuned out. Good as a stopgap, though. Definitely fine for people with disabilities.

I’m not used to e-readers. I bought this brand on the recommendation of a friend. However, I couldn’t imagine just how tiny a six-inch screen is. Unfortunately, the first book I bought is only available in PDF format, and this immediately presented some insurmountable problems. It isn’t possible to increase the font size in this format, which includes some sort of protection. If I were to enlarge them simply by zooming in, it would be such a slow process that it would be incompatible with reading smoothly. If the text is left at its original size, the letters are so small that even my strongest reading glasses aren’t enough to stop it from becoming tiring after a while. When I switched the PDF to a view mode that MIGHT have made it easier to reformat it to a larger font, the e-reader froze completely; it only came back to life after I restarted it several times. I haven’t opened it since then; it was quite off-putting to start with. However, not all bookshops offer all formats for their books – this was the case with Grada, where only PDF was available. To be honest, it’s more convenient to read them on a tablet: -(. Years ago, I had a Sony e-reader (which my son unfortunately broke); it may have been as long as 10 years ago, but it was a much more powerful device than this one. It was quicker, and it even managed to handle the PDF created by scanning the original book.
