After receiving your 990 Pro, I recommend installing Samsung Magician as soon as possible and checking the firmware in the module is up to date. In those earlier versions, they had a pretty serious problem with a badly configured controller. With the latest version of FW it works as it should and all critical problems have been fixed.
Personally, I probably like M.2 drives from Samsung the best (in one PC I have a 970 Pro with MLC and in the other two of these modules with denser TLC), I have not had any serious problem with them
of course the speed (for games or for working with big data ideal) - I tried it on a board in a PCIe Gen.4 slot and luxury, but anyway I put it in the end in a PC with Gen.3, where the speed is limited to 3.5 GB / s, and so the drive does not run at its full speed (at least it will load the bus properly and will not heat up more)

I think that the architecture used in the 970 Pro is better than in the 990 Pro (it has direct access), but I think that they had to choose a denser variant of chips and cached controller on purpose because of the large capacity, which you basically can't even notice during normal use, but I hesitated to buy it because of that and rather choose the 970 Pro again, but in the end I am satisfied with the 990 Pro
