I was excited about this phone from the moment the speculation started – I was an enthusiastic user of the Pixel Fold and the Surface Duo, which were based on a similar concept of opening the phone 'landscape-style' like a tablet, but they had their issues. In this case, those have been sorted out – the weight, the perfect 4:3 format, the excellent displays, the better battery and firmware optimisation both in the UI and power management, the 'just right' size for everyday use (be warned, it really won't replace a tablet, it's too 'small' for that even when unfolded), the cameras are sufficient for a normal day and a trip out (but definitely not 'pro'). The blocky design, based on the original Note concept, is also a nice touch and sets it apart from the rounded competition, although maybe a slight rounding of the corners like on the S26 Ultra could have happened; after my experience with the Fold 7 and worn-out trouser pockets, I'd even forgive Samsung for that :-) I highly recommend the phone, but a word of warning is in order: it does require a change in user habits, especially compared to a classic slab phone. If you're expecting the same thing, just on a bigger display, you might be disappointed.
The new format is more usable.
Optimised consumption gives more "screen time" than the battery size would suggest.
Low weight and dimensions
Optimised OneUI
Fits into the Samsung ecosystem for work and leisure.
The edges are a bit sharp - my pockets are going to suffer again :-)
No Flex mode - a bit disappointing compared to the Fold 7 and Fold 8 Ultra.
No "telephoto" lens - the one from the S26 Ultra would be ideal, but I understand why.

I'm a long-time user of Samsung's flagship phones, since around the Galaxy S10, and I've tried all the configurations. I was considering another upgrade to the S27, but as soon as I saw the new Z Fold8, I didn't hesitate. This is a mobile for anyone looking for a compromise between a "pocket-sized" phone and a large display. You can handle messages and notifications when the device is closed, and then tackle work, watching videos or social media in open-book mode. In summary - a multifunctional device that will please any tech enthusiast.

Switching from the Fold 7 to the Galaxy Fold 8 is taking more getting used to than I expected. The phone has a different form factor and I still have to get used to holding it, especially when using the main display – sometimes I feel like it's going to fall out of my hand. Also, because of the thinner body, you can feel the speakers vibrating in your palm more during playback, which didn't happen to me with the Fold 7. However, it's brilliant for films and multitasking, and the battery easily lasts the whole day so far. Overall, though, I'm rather undecided. I had a better feeling about it at first and I'll see if I end up keeping it.

I switched from the Flip series and I have to say, the biggest surprise for me was the build and thickness. When folded, the Fold 8 is unbelievably thin – in your hand and in your pocket, it feels basically the same as an unfolded Flip 6 in a standard case. The difference compared to older generations of Folds is huge and the phone is great to carry around. I also have to praise the new aspect ratio of the outer display. It's no longer a narrow 'noodle', but a fully-fledged display that you can comfortably type on and operate the system with one hand, without having to open the phone every time. Both display panels are, as is traditional from Samsung, absolutely top-notch – excellent colours, high brightness in the sun, and great smoothness. If you're looking for an uncompromising work and multi-purpose machine that won't finally weigh you down in your pocket, this new generation has really hit the mark. A clear 5 stars.
Incredibly slim profile when folded.
Perfect aspect ratio of the outer display.
Top-notch quality of both displays.
Excellent performance and a smooth system.
Higher purchase price (but this corresponds to the top-of-the-range technology).

As a former owner of all previous Fold generations, I decided not to go for the top-spec model this time, but to opt for the new direction in the form of the Fold8. The new form factor is truly unique and absolutely brilliant for a folding device. The display dimensions force you to use the phone in a slightly different way to unlock its full potential. When you add in the lower weight and smaller size, you get a truly mobile (easily portable) device that you can easily slip into your pocket, but when unfolded, you essentially have a tablet. This is exactly where the folding design has the greatest potential. It's just a shame about the missing zoom camera; I will miss that a bit.
Unusual form factor
The fold in the display is barely noticeable
Great readability in sunlight
Super ergonomics
weaker photo equipment
magnet for wireless charging only in the case
No S Pen support

I was wondering for a long time whether the switch was worth it, but the “wide” version finally convinced me. I can honestly say that I'm happy. What I appreciate most is that the front display is no longer that narrow sliver it used to be, and the Z fold 8 can finally be operated like a completely normal phone when closed. Writing messages is much more comfortable, and overall it just feels more natural. Once you unfold it, it’s in a different league, of course. The inner display has beautiful colours, the brightness is perfect even outdoors, and Samsung has managed to hide the crease in the middle a bit more – you barely even notice it during normal use. What’s more, everything runs beautifully smoothly, no matter what I’m doing. Multitasking with several open apps is simply a joy on this. Of course, it’s not completely flawless. The purchase price is very high and you can really feel those 200 grams in your pocket. But to sum it up, this generation finally seems so refined that it makes sense for normal day-to-day use. For me, it's a very pleasant step forward.
Pleasantly wide front display
Absolutely smooth operation
The screen curve is barely noticeable
Solid battery life
Finally, typing without typos.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 has a great form factor and a nearly unnoticeable crease on the inner display. Both displays are very fine and bright. The support for several multitasking modes looks good. I'm moving to the Fold8 from a Surface Duo 2, and the inner display options without a visible seam are much more advanced in this respect (better for watching full-width video or reading and editing a document in portrait). Working with multiple apps at once is a bit more challenging compared to the Surface Duo 2, but it's probably a matter of getting used to it. I miss the S Pen support. The phone and the system as such work perfectly, as expected, with an instant response.

I saw and tried the Samsung Galaxy Fold 8 in person in the shop and I'm thrilled with this phone. The size is perfect for me, both when folded and unfolded. The phone is brilliant to use. The crease is not noticeable at all, and viewing websites in the internet browser is as good as on a PC, which is the biggest plus for me. I'm upgrading to this from a Flip 7.
