I wonder how long the lid on the kettle will last. The lid removal system called. brute force, with the lid being plastic, strikes me as a potential weak point.

It works pretty fast and is not too noisy.
Sometimes it can be an advantage that the lid can be removed completely, which makes it easier to fill the water in certain situations (for example from our filter kettle).
In most cases, it is harder to operate with one hand, as it is better to remove the lid manually than to pour through the hinged hole in the middle of the lid, but it is easy to get used to.
The only really downside I find is that the kettle, by not having an automatic push-button flip lid, stays closed after use and so the glass and lid inside gets scratched and then the water sticks to it, so when you take it off you have to be careful not to splash yourself with condensed water.
Missing the 60 degree temperature, which the dear half used to use on our previous kettle.
