I called there and told my favorites and this unit was recommended to me by them as the best for home use in a combination of utility value and price. And yes, when following the instructions it is indeed very accurate in both ferrous and non-ferrous metal mode, as well as live conductors. I haven't tried wood, I don't need it. But you really need to read and follow the instructions. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.
