I bought the monitor to work with text - a huge area is ideal for multitasking and one large area is better than 2-3 monitors with more pixels. In short, people have more freedom when moving and arranging windows. In addition, the MacBook Air M1 only (officially) supports one external monitor. The connection went smoothly, I got the full resolution for the first time - 5120x1440 via USB-C, USB-C -> DisplayPort, and DP-DP via Thunderbolt 3 dock. So far so good. But displaying text is an absolute disaster. Anyone who has seen an LCD connected via a VGA port knows what I' m talking about. The text was dispersed, two identical letters next to each other rendered diametrically differently - e. g. ff - first relatively normal, the second as bold, one has a fat first leg, the second last leg. And that was unfortunately the standard at any port. Sharpness adjustment did not help in any direction. The only acceptable result for the text I achieved for the use of USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 cable (via USB-C) and in HDR mode, resp. HDR Dynamic. HDR makes a text about a little more. Lenze has its disadvantages - on the one hand, a person loses the ability to control other parameters (so the display does what he wants) and on the other. HDR for long-term work with text. but it' s not pleasant. I tried another M1 Air, MacBook Pro with Intel, two HP. One HP even identified the display as TV. Which is obviously the core of the problem. On each, the text was worse than the 5-year-old Delli with a DPI 15 points lower (109 vs 84) Samsung' s technical support first declared the text OK, then it is said to be caused by photo distortion (which is bullshit), and finally acknowledged the problem with that. that I do not notice this with these monitors and I have to take the monitor to a service center or return it. What I did. Alza returned the money without any problems.
Ergonomics - sufficient height adjustment options + horizontal and vertical inclination.
Good viewing angles on VA panel (curvature helps)
Works on MacBook Air M1 without problems in native resolution
120Hz via DisplayPort (resp. USB-C -> DP)
Text display is an absolute disaster - as acceptable only in HDR modes - and even via USB4 / Thunderbolt4 cable for 70 euros.
There is probably no mode where all parameters can be set
When connected via USB-C (ie power delivery), the switched off Mac is switched on, the sleeping Mac wakes up at the command of the monitor.
Cable connection solution - even a USB-C cable with a small outer part of the connector will be uncomfortably bent and print on the port
