Best accessory I've bought for my bike. I've been using it for a few months now and so far it hasn't failed to detect a single approaching vehicle, including overtaking cyclists. I appreciate that it can also pair with some Garmin watches, but I recommend using it with one of the cyclo-navigations, if only because it's easy to see on the display how far away the vehicle is and how it's approaching. It's not so safe to look at your watch all the time.

The Garmin Varia is a true helper in today's road jungle. It helps both the cyclist himself by displaying the vehicles behind him on the display of the cycle computer, watch or phone, and also alerts the driver by increasing the intensity of the flashing that is overtaking and overtaking him. Varia is very accurate, ignoring oncoming vehicles that pass you. the colour of the display tells you how fast the vehicle is going. Orange indicates slower speed - red high, green free. The display also shows the number of vehicles, which can be up to eight. You can set the light to flash either manually on the device or on your Edge computer or mobile phone. There are several modes to choose from, including auto, where Varia adapts to the light conditions of the surroundings. The trekking or peloton mode in turn prevents the light from dazzling your fellow cyclists. The light is clearly visible up to a distance of 1.6 km. In "auto" mode, the Varia lasts about 16 hours in operation and is charged with a microUSB cable for about 2 hours. I am extremely satisfied with this product and feel safer on the road.

Sunset time is not used for switch device to night mode, only light sensor from Edge computer. My Edge 830 switch dayflash mode into nightflash 10 minutes after sunset.
