Forget the sprays that are sprayed into the cabin. I've tried them, they don't help with the musty smell anymore. I sprayed this foam when I changed the cabin filter directly on the evaporator + into all the ventilation outlets and the smell is gone. On the other hand, I consider application directly to the evaporator to be necessary, which makes it a not so trivial operation.
