This is my second floor cleaner. The huge advantage is the roller drying at a high temperature. My previous one didn't have this, and if you didn't take it apart, clean it, and let it dry, it would start to smell right away. With the Rowenta, you just press one button and empty the dirty water tank to clean it. The X-Clean 12 is my second floor cleaner. I switched from the Kärcher FC 7 Cordless model. The Kärcher cleaner had two rows of rollers that rotated against each other, so the cleaner literally floated and you could move it with just two fingers, but the small dirty water tank annoyed me. That was the only reason I bought a new one. 1)
I was very unpleasantly surprised by the force required to control the cleaner. It's actually quite a struggle. The cleaner tries to move away from you as the roller spins, and you constantly have to pull it back. This is somewhat okay on a large surface, but manoeuvring in more complex spaces, like corners or around furniture, literally requires both hands. Not to mention that as you're fighting with the cleaner, you're constantly bumping into furniture etc. I'm a big guy, but this is really not comfortable to operate. 2)
I was also unpleasantly surprised by the quality, or rather the lack of quality, of the mopping. Again, I'm comparing it with the aforementioned Kärcher cleaner. The Kärcher cleaned even dried-on stains in the kitchen. The Rowenta cleans the same stains significantly worse; you have to go over them repeatedly, and it can't handle some of them. 3)
The battery drains noticeably faster compared to a floor cleaner without a vacuum. I don't really understand the point of having a vacuum in the cleaner, because a cleaner without one works just the same, only it doesn't make as much noise and has a significantly longer battery life. The idea that this rattling thing would pick up a cobweb in a corner etc. is a complete joke. I assume that this entire category of vacuum-floor cleaners has similar flaws.
