It also works well on a combination of old and new wiring in a gradually renovated house. I used an extension cord to pair the 4 pieces of equipment. One socket is used for the power supply and the other for the clients connected to each other. It always pairs against the source. You only have to press really briefly before the LED flashes. I use to interconnect a printer and two computers and connected to the internet.

It won't fit in a double drawer - or rather. takes up both positions (at most a fork without grounding would fit)
