Stranger Than Heaven PC follows Makoto Daito who, after losing his parents in 1915, leaves San Francisco and stows away on a ship bound for Japan. Of mixed American-Japanese descent, he grows up in an environment of rejection that forges his inner resolve. The journey across the ocean becomes a pivotal turning point, opening a fifty-year saga about finding one's place in the world and the constant clash with a fate that dictates the next steps of his life.
CITIES
Not Just Tokyo Will Influence the Story
Stranger Than Heaven PC unfolds its world across five distinct cities between 1915 and 1965, with each location carrying its own atmosphere and social tensions. Kokura in 1915 breathes the smoke of foundries and hard labour; Kure in 1929 is under the influence of the naval arsenal and the yakuza; Minami, Osaka, in 1943 lives for entertainment amidst wartime pressure; Atami in 1951 is a post-war seaside resort; and Shinjuku in 1965 culminates in the chaos of Tokyo's nightlife. Each city moves Makoto's journey into a new chapter of his life.
COMBAT
Knives, Hammers, and Katanas
Stranger Than Heaven PC builds its combat system on intuitive control of both hands, where each side of the body reacts independently. Attacks, defence, and counter-attacks combine into fluid combinations that require precise reading of opponents' movements. Makoto uses a wide arsenal of weapons including knives, hammers, and katanas, with clashes feeling fast, brutal, and adaptable to the situation.
MUSIC
A Showman's Career
Stranger Than Heaven PC combines action with musical creation, as Makoto discovers his talent and gradually builds a career as a showman. He collects environmental sounds from the streets—from the bustle of cities to footsteps, trains, and even the sounds of battle—and composes original musical pieces from them. He then assembles bands, selects artists, designs the stage and lighting, and creates performances that change the atmosphere of all of Japan. The project is backed by RGG Studio, known for its strong stories and distinctive action.
