The biometric technology of fingerprinting has undergone significant developments in recent years. Old scanning methods are gradually being replaced by new and more efficient methods. How do these latest fingerprint scanning technologies work?

The FM radio function in mobile phones allows you to listen to analog radio broadcasts on very short waves. For most mobile phones, the radio function is only available with headphones connected, as the headphone cable serves as an antenna.

You can connect your phone to external devices via USB-OTG (On-The-Go). Devices such as flash drives, SD card readers, mice, keyboards, game controllers etc.

A mobile phone is water resistant if it meets a certified level of durability that allows total immersion. When it comes to mobile phones, it is the specification of the IP67, IP68, or IP69 Ingress Protection rating.

IP68 indicates the degree of protection of a device that is fully protected against dust and can also withstand immersion in water for more than 30 minutes or in a depth exceeding 1m. However, the specific conditions are determined by the manufacturer.

IPS, or In-Plane Switching, often also known as Super TFT, is a type of LCD display technology. It offers an excellent quality-price ratio, natural colours, low power consumption, and wide viewing angles up to almost 180 degrees.

The macro lens is used to shoot close objects with high detail, often at short distance of a few centimeters. It is therefore suitable for photographing insects or flowers.

Micro SD cards are used for storing data on mobile phones, GPS navigation and other portable devices.

A-GPS is a sophisticated GPS protocol that helps you quickly locate your mobile device.

Bluetooth is the communication tool used by a huge amount of electronics. Learn how the frequency signal is generated and how it's used. In a simple overview of the different versions, we will show how Bluetooth has evolved and been refined. You can also learn something about the specifications and security of this communication standard.

A device that receives a GPS signal to determine and record a location. GPS modules can be found in car and motorcycle navigation systems, cyclocomputers, sporttesters and GPS locators.

Infraport is a wireless interface which, thanks to the emitted light pulses, can replace the remote control, for example on a television, and allows convenient control of various devices via a mobile application. It was used to transfer data between two devices initially, but this feature was replaced by more modern Bluetooth.

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a wireless communication used to establish a connection between portable devices, over a very short distance, only up to 4cm. Previously, NFC was used to transfer photos and videos, but you'll often hear about it in connection with contactless payments.

Fifth generation of mobile networks, so-called 5G, is a new standard whose parameters significantly exceed the current 4G networks. It brings up to a tenfold increase in speed, which together with a reduction in response time guarantees a highly stable Internet connection for virtually any device.

LTE (Long Term Evolution) marks the next generation of mobile data networks. This is an intermediate step between 3G and 4G. Although manufacturers and operators sometimes mistakenly refer to it as 4G, it is not a full 4G network. That's for LTE Advanced. The maximum theoretical data transfer rate is up to 175Mbps for download and up to 57.6Mbps for sending data in one frequency band.

NanoSIM is the smallest, most advanced type of SIM card.

A legújabb USB-csatlakozó a Type-C jelölést viseli.

A digital compass (magnetic sensor) detects the earth's magnetic field to determine the cardinal points. This enables the phone to correctly rotate the map to fit your orientation.

The motion of a gyroscope rotates in space on all three axes. In this case, it determines the direction in which you are moving your phone.

An ambient light sensor that monitors the ambient light levels and dynamically adjusts the display backlight intensity. A practical and handy feature, it is part of most modern phones. It turns the display brightness to the maximum in bright sunlight and dims the backlight in the dark. This makes the phone’s display perfectly readable in all lighting conditions without straining your eyes.

Accelerometers and G-Sensors are motion sensors that determine the tilt in space. The phone uses it to know which way it is being held, e.g. portrait, landscape or upside down.

The vast majority of modern mobile phones are equipped with a proximity sensor. Its task is to evaluate the distance of an object from the sensor. Once the object gets close, the telephone activates a particular function. One of the most common is the function to turn off the screen and the touch layer when the user dials a phone number and places the phone close to his ear.
