What to Look For When Choosing a PSU for Mining

A PSU for mining cryptocurrency is a rig that consumes a lot of electricity. Graphics cards consume the highest power when working on cryptocurrency.

  • If you only use a single graphics card, you can usually get by with a 650 to 750W PSU for mining.
  • PCI-E connectors - preferably at least 6 - are required to power multiple graphics cards simultaneously.
  • A stable power output of over 1 000W and 6 PCI-E connectors allow you to power up to 6 GPUs at the same time.
  • In both cases, it is necessary to think about the reserve - the power supply available should always be slightly higher than the total consumption of the entire assembly.
  • If you are going to use the setup for gaming or multimedia, make sure that the power supply has the required number of other connectors - especially SATA connectors for connecting hard drives and drives.
