Good for bright rooms but very disappointing in low ambient light, where the brightness must be lowered. Especially bad when playing SDR content in 25 fps TV broadcast. This technology needs separate control for the color LEDs and the LCD panel, which is either missing here or not working properly. The default brightness is way too high for a dark room, but reducing it shifts the red to magenta, the blue goes almost to cyan and the green becomes grey. I have 3 other TCL QLEDs, which apart from the classic backlight leak into the blacks, are all having better color representation at half the price.
Price at discount is good
Good blacks
Google TV
Good for very bright rooms and even direct sunlight
Bad contrast in bright scenes
Oversaturated red and blue
White is never white but various shades of random colours depending on the brightness level
Adjusting the brightness is shifting all colours and creates vignetting effects
There is very noticeable fringing around high contrast areas like subtitles
Narrow viewing angles, especially noticeable in low ambient light/low panel brightness
The picture settings are not applied to the OS menus.
