I switched from the Bose QC Earbuds II and sort of accidentally because I lost them: (( And those alone were better than anything I had in my ear. The differences aren't that surprising, but the shift to Ultra was still quite pleasing in some ways. I was quite hesitant to buy it because the reviews (and opinions on Reddit) are contradictory: o) So I'll try to describe from my perspective as a long time QC user of the Bose range both in-ear and over-ear. First and foremost - the headphones are basically perfect in all respects and their ANC is unbeatable. The old QC Earbuds IIs never outperformed even the (despised by me: )) the latest generation of AirPods - and not in ANC, not in sound, and ergonomics are absolutely out of the question. In the case of QC Ultra, however, it is a full-length lead. ANC has several predefined modes and the ability to create your own customized ones - I've always made do with the basics = silence, awareness and (new) immersion. Immersion is actually a virtual surround, but I'm still exploring that and I'm generally more of a stereo fan. The headphones are basically the same size as my previous ones, they are lightweight, have basic IPX and I have tested that they won't fall off even when running or at the gym. This is aided by the perfectly designed fit and size adjustment - you can choose from 3 sizes of earbud, but also from three sizes of strap/arch that rests on the inside of the ear and combine these attachments freely to achieve the perfect fit. You can then test the entire assembly and seal in APPce using the special headphone and microphone function. What surprised me is that the headphones are quite bloated by default (and unnecessarily so), which may suit most current users, but it doesn't suit me. The bass is really powerful and the EQ, although basic, allows individual adjustment of treble, mids and bass in the traditional +/- 10 levels in addition to several predefined modes. Bass I went -2 to -3 below. Otherwise, the sound is absolutely perfect and clear throughout the range - but compared to the QC Earbuds II, it's not exactly a game changer: ) The only thing worth mentioning is that the headphones are, in my opinion, significantly more powerful than the previous ones. But what is a gamechanger and what I hated about the absence in the previous ones is the multipoint Bluetooth connectivity. Finally, it is possible to connect to two devices at the same time, without manual switching. So I can have my phone and laptop connected and the headphones just play where the sound is coming from. If you try to play both devices at the same time, the one that is currently playing takes precedence and the other one won't play until you release the first one. But no more Bluetooth reconnection and that's the main thing! The case is also greatly improved, finally looking presentable and can be charged both via USB-C and wirelessly. The surface is very pleasant and the lid closes firmly and securely. The previous QC Earbuds II had a Wishe case: D However, the shape remained basically the same. Overall, however, I am extremely satisfied and I am glad that Bose has once again made a proper piece of instrument and proved that it has no conquerors for consumer users.
