The freezer ceiling replaces the freezer function and this fully compensates for its disadvantages. I am completely satisfied with the fridge and I have abandoned the accumulation of food in the freezer practiced with the previous fridge.
The fridge freezes the whole ceiling and not the back wall - the hottest grey condensation shelf under the ceiling needs minus 3*C and a 1.5kg pack of meat will stay fresh there for several days ( depending on how it is packed) ideally over a weekend. The freezing air dropping down the second shelf is e.g. plus 3*C and 6*C on the bottom. and at 25*C in the room the thermostat of the fridge is set to about 20% of max power. For a fridge that doesn't have a small separate freezer compartment, this concept performs its function even better. A partial disadvantage is that the moisture freezes on the ceiling and does not flow down the back wall into the collection trough, which is present in the fridge but does not have a drain hole. I used to wipe the frost with a rubber window squeegee once a day outside on a tray whenever I find that the frost is not currently stuck to the ceiling. The lack of a freezer should be reflected in the low consumption and the fridge compressor is oversized for its volume, so it cools well above average. The operation is actually very quiet, the relay claps quietly when the compressor is switched on. The heat from the cooling circuit is radiated into the room through both side walls, so the back of the fridge is a smooth sheet.
The fridge is large enough to store a food supply of min. for 2 people to cook for a few days. The door can hold 2 litre pet bottles or 4 beers. the bottom shelf can easily accommodate several more 0.5l bottles. The necks of the 0.7-litre bottles extend into the door compartments, but they can still be closed. The door can also accommodate a carton of 10 eggs and a glass, e.g. with jam.
I find it practical to have two of these fridges instead of one big one. One that you go to often and the other to have food more sensitive to frequent temperature fluctuations.
Some people might be bothered by frost wiping off the ceiling of the fridge, as opposed to the usual condensation running down the back wall into the drain.
