The big advantage that only enthusiasts will take advantage of is the smart implementation with local API (the washing machine can be controlled in a smart home offline even without internet access), it is rare. Unfortunately, the API is undocumented so you need to sniff the communication of the official application with individual endpoints of the washing machine. The official app is slow and unimpressive over the cloud, registration is skeletal and for local vs cloud control it illogically decides by the active WIFI SSID, so even if one is still on the same LAN via a different SSID or VPN the app doesn't communicate directly but via the cloud with a minute delay. *facepalm*
