After 6 years I decided to renew my Corsair K70 RGB RAPIDFIRE (first version) and the choice fell again on Corsair (I chose between Apex, Razor, Logitech and Corsair). Compared to the original version, we finally have a detachable cable (I made it myself on the original keyboard). This time it makes do with one standard skinny cable instead of 2 extra thick ones, which is a plus. The key operation is much quieter (even compared to the above-mentioned possible competitors) and there is no such "plastic" clacking. In internal profiles (without using the iCUE application), the keyboard can now also dynamically set colours (Rapidfire could only set static colours). A minor setback: multimedia keys + trinity (WinLock-light-profiles) are not so "fixed". Sensationally it is more of a wobbly membrane squeeze and not as pronounced. The Rapidfire felt more mechanical. The only big minus: The original Rapidfire was localized to CZ (laser engraving) thanks to Alza, who took it on at the time. Here we only have the US version. I tried to ask one of the best known companies about laser engraving (k*****r.cz) - everything looked OK from a distance, unfortunately after sending it they stated that these keys cannot be engraved - the PBT layer is thicker than 95% of all other keys on the market - see comparison photo (Rapidfire ca 0.30 mm vs MAX 1.50 mm). If it could somehow be done (if I want to keep the backlighting of the characters), it would be very deep grooves in the keys. Even on the original marks you can see that they are rather raised compared to the light recessed material. The only way to solve this is e.g. just by lightly sanding a layer of PBT and then pouring paint over it (which is not the right thing to do). The second failure is, if someone would like at least stickers (but definitely good quality (they really exist :D), and not from regular shops for a few tens) -> so the surface of the keys is rough - so stickers would not last long - again see detailed comparison photo. So with this keyboard you have to take into account that there is no possibility of localization (at least not in a standard way). But who doesn't need localization (it's just a habit), and has no problem to give over 5k, so I can only recommend it.
