If you have only one USB header on the board and you use USB 2.0 on the crate so probably bad luck, I have USB2 and USB3 on the crate, USB3 has a different connector on the board so I cut USB2 on the crate and used USB hub.
The display won't work without the USB header.
USB header cable is 1cm long for ATX board, if it was 1cm shorter I would not plug it in (I don't hide the cable behind the board).
