From a setting spray with a declared 18-hour wear, I would expect first and foremost that it actually sets make-up. Unfortunately, in this case, I feel like I barely notice most of the promised effects.
After application, I don't see any significant mattifying of the skin, nor does the wear of my make-up seem to be extended in any major way. For example, if I use cream products, the spray practically doesn't remove their stickiness. All it takes is touching my face with my hand, and some of the make-up comes off on it. For me, that is quite a fundamental flaw in a setting spray.
On the other hand, I must admit that the product doesn't do me any harm. Even with repeated use, I haven't noticed any irritation, drying out, or other negative skin reactions.
Interestingly, in combination with the setting powder from the same Essence range, I do get a much more convincing result. However, in my opinion, a high-quality setting spray should perform decently on its own, without the need to combine several products and search for a way to get the desired effect out of it.
Overall, then, I'm not outright disappointed because, given the low price, I wasn't expecting miracles, but I probably won't buy it again. It might work as a light refreshing spray during make-up application, but as a reliable final setting spray, it didn't convince me.
Reasonable price, lightweight formula without denatured alcohol and oils. It doesn't cause irritation or any other unpleasant reactions on my skin. It works better when combined with a setting powder.
Very weak setting and mattifying effect, cream products remain sticky and the make-up still transfers when touched. It contains fragrance and several potentially irritating fragrance ingredients.
