I don' t have exactly one of the boards that was reviewed online, so I' m out of luck, can' t fine-tune performance on my compatible board
in case you bought the exact same motherboard that is in an online review of that RAM somewhere, and they have successfully tuned the RAM in that review exactly how you want it, e. g. 4800MHz @ CL30, so you will be very satisfied and give 5 stars.
Max. bandwidth at 6000MHz will allow the best graphics cards in the future when they switch to the new PCI Express, which supports twice the bandwidth of the gpu, that there will be higher performance. Also in the future, when there will be faster CPUs with a higher FSB, so that the memory controller vs. CPU are in a 1:1 speed ratio, the ideal state should be reached without artificially slowing down the memory controller.
At the moment, when you have an RTX 3090, RTX 3080, typically above 100FPS, you no longer see the difference if there is 101FPS or 110FPS, because the monitor is usually around 100Hz refresh rate. With this RAM, the GPU calculates several FPS more. In the case of some memory-intensive applications, there is a small improvement, a few percent, which is not visible to the eye.
You must have exactly one of the boards that have been tested by others in benchmarks online and everything worked on them. It is not enough that you have the board on the compatibility list, that is only for factory settings. In order to fine-tune the memories so that you can achieve performance, you must have one of those boards where they ran it online at a different frequency and at different latencies (e. g. 4800MHz @ latency 30). This is not possible with every board on the compatibility list, unfortunately.
MSI Z690-A PRO when trying to change the freq. and CL freezes in bios. What follows is a long wait for the PC to set the values to something it will boot with after booting up. Even the Memory Try it function in the MSI BIOS does not offer you overclocking for this RAM, but ironically underclocking, i. e. worse ratio of MHz vs latency. If you want to at least keep the ratio, you have to enter live. specified data, because there are no ready XMP profiles in the memories, and it is very difficult for the user to enter, because he wants to fill in not only freq. and CL, but about 10 other values that you don' t care about, and there is no option to set the car for them.
In the bios, everything shows up correctly, 6000MHz CL36, but the benchmarks measure my latency in real life at 40. The real benefit will only be if you buy another board, another CPU, so that if possible the memory controller is 1:1 with RAM or that the board supports better fine tuning.
