Perhaps it was a faulty piece, I bought it nearly new, so someone had probably already returned it. I'm not surprised. I definitely recommend turning it on long before you need it – for me, it took almost a day and a half for the temperature to drop by about 10°C. The fridge was turned on 36h before the trip, in the cellar at 17 degrees. After 24h, the temperature inside the fridge was 11 degrees. After 36h, it was 10 degrees, so a drop of 7 compared to the outside temperature. For the trip, I had to add 4 large ice packs; the fridge was on the whole journey (14h) in normal mode on 240V. Even with the ice packs, the temperature inside the fridge was 15 degrees (the car was air-conditioned to 24). So, not only does it cool very slowly, but it's not even able to maintain the initial internal temperature. I don't know how it's supposed to reach down to -18 according to the product description.
