When replacing the silicone behind the kitchen countertop, I remembered to put masking tape on the countertop with the understanding that the surrounding silicone would then simply peel off. Unfortunately, I then found out that I was very naive, so I got this remover. I don't know how it works on other surfaces, but even using it, getting the silicone off the matte kitchen countertop was hell. It certainly wasn't a waste of money, as I probably wouldn't have taken the silicone off at all without it, but I expected it to be easier. In the end I had to apply the remover twice, and try to wait longer than the 15 minutes mentioned. The SIlikon is off as a result, but next time I'd better be careful not to put silicone anywhere other than where I need it.

As someone already wrote here, I recommend to put a thicker layer, so that the remover does not dry out during the time of action
Even with the use of remover it is quite a chore (on a matte surface). I had to use the rough part of the dish sponge as well as the brush.
