The microscope was designed for an 11-year-old boy to explore the microworld. The advantage is the lighting, the solid construction, and the relatively good optics considering the price. The disadvantage is the lack of locking screws to move the slide. Don't expect miracles when viewing at the highest magnification, but it can be done. The preparations supplied with the instrument are nicely prepared directly for viewing. A great gift for a child with a lot of charm.
