The famous Unifi control software has mongoDB under the hood, which is 3 years out of support and 5 years out of development. There is no Linux distribution that has a valid certificate for the monga v4 package in the rep. So it takes installing it manually and breaking envy, or spinning up a third party docker image (or installing it on windows where it doesn't work for real anyway, you need the CPP runtime) and accepting that your network is running something that has potential security holes. Bravo. As long as the AI is nice. Ubiquiti's inability to resolve the database licensing change for several years is shocking. The worst part, however, is that one doesn't find many similarly comprehensive alternatives in this market segment.

Swapped with PFsense just fine.
The signal is not that great, but ubiqiti has LR models for that.
The wall mounting kit is ill-conceived. If you have anything that isn't flat like glass (like, say, plaster), then there's a problem with both putting it on and taking it off. This will rip off both the dowels and the cable guide. I unfortunately don't have the luxury of having a UTP cable routed from the box. Next time I'll stick 1-2mm of shims under the weight pad and it will be better.
The cable penetration is narrow, if you have an honest CAT6, you can barely get it through.
Unifi software in the control console is "under the hood" pathetic.
The light can either be switched on (nice night lighting) or off. Better would be to set a schedule, or maybe levels.
Additional investment required (you can run the console on any PC, but you lose network observability if you turn it off).
If you have your own firewall/router, you don't see it in the topology. At least they could have put a dummy icon and log/speed in there.
