Robots are fun. So wouldn't it be nice if there was a kit that included everything you need to get your Arduino device set up to control a simple two-motor-circuit buddy? The SparkFun Ardumoto Shield Kit is a perfect gift for any robot enthusiast. The kit includes tires, motors, connectors and wires. It's all stuffed in a classic SparkFun red box, which may come in handy as a robot chassis.

New dimension for robotic toy drive

Ardumoto Shield is an easy-to-use dual-motor controller for Arduino robotic toys. Combined with an Arduino, the Ardumoto makes a fantastic controller platform for RC vehicles or small autonomous robots. The heart of the Ardumoto is a big black chip located right in the middle - the L298, one of the popular dual-channel motor drivers. It is capable of driving up to 2A per channel. The board take its power from the same source as the Arduino. It also includes blue and yellow LEDs to indicate active direction. All driver lines are diode protected from back EMF. The motors included in the package are not compatible with the Wheel Encoder kit.

The toy complies with Directive 2009/48/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009 on the safety of toys and also CE Declaration of Conformity.
