WD Red hard drive is the world's first model, which was developed exclusively for NAS systems. The unit is tested to be useable in continuous operation (24 × 7) in the home or small business NAS with one to five positions (for larger systems NAS is better to use enterprise drives - enterprise). The basis of everything is up to 35% increase in the statistical indicators MTBF (mean time between failures) that indicates the median time in hours, after which it is expected that the equipment will work flawlessly.
The WD Red hard drive is the world's first model to be developed exclusively for NAS systems. The unit is tested for 24/7 operation at home or for small NAS businesses with one to five positions (for larger NAS systems it is better to use enterprise drives). A foundation of WD hard drives is the 35% increase of the statistical indicator MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures), which indicates the median time in hours and allows for the equipment to work flawlessly as expected.

The WD Red series is designed for next generation, 8-position NAS systems with a total capacity of 48TB.
Professional Solutions
The WD Red series is designed for small and midsize businesses, and has now been expanded to WD Red Pro, which is designed for medium to large NAS environments with 8-16 positions.
