Imagine a power outage minutes before you saved that important document. The unsaved work is irretrievably lost, and you have to start again from scratch. Such catastrophic scenarios can be averted by the EATON UPS 5P 650iR Gen2 Netpack backup source, or UPS. This hardware is practically a large battery that provides power for all appliances needing electricity. The EATON UPS 5P 650iR Gen2 Netpack backup power has the Line interactive design approach. Off-line is seen as the simplest form if the electricity is interrupted because it switches power to the UPS unit itself. The line interactive UPS also adds voltage regulation to guard against dangerous surges and spikes.

An important parameter is how long the UPS will function when the electricity is off. This depends on the power consumption of the connected electronics – for example, at half-load (50%), the battery backup time will last a longer amount of time. The load of the UPS governs the operating time, which at full load is 1,1 min and at half the energy consumption, it is 7,2 min. It is therefore necessary to calculate the power consumption of the connected electronics and ideally to have some spare energy in reserve. The EATON UPS 5P 650iR Gen2 Netpack specifies the apparent power as 650, but realistically, the actual power usage is 520 W.
