A switch is an active network unit that connects individual devices and other network elements. 4 SFP connectors serve to transport data via optical fibers. It works with Dual Personality ports, remarkable for including both the RJ-45 and SFP connector ; however, only one of them can be active at a time. The switch dimensions are 330 × 200 × 70mm. QoS or Quality of Service technology makes sure the switch doesn't get overloaded, and it also allows you to control end station priority. The MikroTik CRS504-4XQ-OUT also operates on the ISO/OSI model network layer, which means it may double as a router. Thanks to this neat feature, you won't require another network element.
