The QNAP TS-832PXU-4G NAS centralises data storage, backup, and file sharing on your company's computer network. This rackmount model comes without drives and holds up to eight SATA hard drives or SSDs. The device is powered by a quad-core Alpine AL-324 processor with a frequency of 1.7GHz on a 64-bit ARM architecture. The system is complemented by 4GB of DDR4 RAM, which you can expand to 16GB if needed. The storage supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10 disk array configurations to protect data against hardware failure.
The storage has two 10GbE SFP+ ports and two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports. This configuration supports fast transfers of large amounts of data when working in a team. According to internal tests, the download speed of a 10GB file via the 2× 10GbE interface reaches up to 2104MB/s and the upload speed reaches 649MB/s. This lets users transfer files faster and collaborate more effectively in real time. Higher network throughput reduces the time it takes to back up the entire system.
The device includes one free PCIe Gen 2 ×2 slot. Compatible expansion cards, such as 2.5GbE, 5GbE or 10GbE network adapters, or QM2 combo cards, can be installed in this slot. Installing an additional card increases the overall flexibility of the entire network storage and expands its application potential. Users can add an M.2 SSD interface for caching, or a USB 3.2 Gen 2 expansion card to transfer data at speeds of up to 10Gb/s with external devices.
The Hybrid Backup Sync tool consolidates backup, recovery and data synchronisation tasks to other NAS devices, remote servers or cloud storage. The system also includes the Qsync application, which turns the storage into a hub for synchronising files across PCs, laptops and mobile phones. System snapshots protect stored data from accidental deletion or malware attacks. Restoring files from these snapshots is quick and serves to restore the system to a previous state.
The Boxafe software solution is used to back up company data from SaaS cloud services, where there is a risk of data loss due to human error. It supports Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 platforms. This tool saves emails and contacts, as well as calendars and files on cloud drives directly to the local NAS storage. This way, the company gains an additional layer of security and prevents data loss due to a remote cloud service failure.
The HybridMount and VJBOD Cloud storage gateways create a hybrid environment. Users can access cloud data with low latency thanks to local caching. This system simplifies the management of remote files directly in the QTS operating system interface. The local cache speeds up work with frequently opened files. The storage supports SSD cache technology to accelerate disk operations with low latency. Qtier technology automatically moves frequently used data to faster drives. Setting up additional dedicated space extends the lifespan of the installed SSDs. This increases the stability of the entire system under heavy load.
