These are my second Alpine earbuds. I was extremely happy with the first regular ones, so I decided to try the airplane ones, thinking that even if they didn't work, I would have other good quality noise cancellation earbuds. During takeoff and landing, I sometimes struggle with severe pain when balancing the pressure in my inner ear. I've done 9 flights with the earbuds and about 40 000 km in the air. Combined with the nasal spray, I more or less avoided the painful balancing of pressures. I've only worn them during takeoff and landing, they are not needed during flight, although muting the engine noise is certainly not a bad thing. You can listen to music through them to a limited extent when you have earphones on. I can't say for sure how much the spray helped and how much the plugs helped, but I would say that they allowed me to equalize the pressure more gradually during faster ascents and descents. I have fairly narrow ear canals and the earbuds don't pinch me. At the same time, I imagine that for a larger person with larger diameter ear canals, they might not fit as well. But it is definitely worth a try.
