Was it really a year ago when Apple launched its range of iPhone 12 models? It seems that time is flying by quicker than ever. Still, the legends at Apple have clearly been busying themselves and have four spanking-new iPhone 13 models—iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max—to prove it. In this article, we'll take a closer look at the latest iPhone 13 mini.

This Autumn's Apple Event featured a pre-recorded video with spectacular visually appealing editing. Apple employees took turns on the virtual stage to introduce us not only to the new iPhone 13 series but also other new devices, including Apple iPads and Apple Watch Series 7.

iPhone 13 mini Is Prettier Than Ever

Like the iPhone 13, the mini model has undergone design changes. The notch at the top of the display is now smaller, which gives you an increased screen area, while the top speaker is a little higher and closer to the top edge. Let's move on to the back of the device.

As expected, there are some subtle changes here too. iPhone 13 mini has both rear cameras placed diagonally underneath each other, not in a straight line. The phone's diagonal is remains at 5.4", which is big enough space for watching movies yet still fits comfortably in smaller pockets.

When we look at iPhone 13 mini's performance, there are some clear improvements. Like its predecessor, the A14 Bionic, the new 5nm Apple A15 Bionic is a 6-core chip. Apple says their new processor contains more than 3 billion extra transistors and a re-engineered 16-core Neural Engine for machine learning that adds to the overall increase in performance.

Capable Movie Camera

The dual-camera setup from last year's lineup is back again. Both the wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras are 12Mpx and support Deep Fusion for better detail. Last year, only the most expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max series came with sensor-shift stabilisation. This year, Apple decided to put it on all models, including the iPhone 13 mini. You'll also enjoy customising colour using the new Photographic Styles feature.

If you're more into making videos, you'll love Cinematic Video which lets you adjust depth of field for a true movie-like effect. You can also use this mode with the front-facing 12Mpx selfie camera. Optical sensor-shift stabilisation also comes in handy when shooting. Combine it with Cinematic Video to produce spectacular results.

The entire new generation benefits from larger batteries. You'll welcome this when you're on the go all day and using fast 5G networks or shooting 4K videos. Even the smallest iPhone 13 mini boasts an increased time of up to 2 hours for video playback and up to 5 hours for music playback when compared to its predecessor. The larger battery combines with Apple's power-saving A15 Bionic chip to ensure that the iPhone13 mini reliably serves you from early in the morning until you go to bed.
