Bought for kids ages 7 and 4. They helped both of them, they didn't hurt their ears at all. With a 4 year old, you had to try a little harder and put them on accurately, but then they held up just fine.

They work as they should - the headphones prevented pressure changes in the ears during flights and therefore ear pain. I tolerate them much better than traditional earplugs, so I tried them for sleeping in a busy environment and they prevented some noise.
