The AMD Ryzen 5 1400 quad-core processor boasts a record low price, but still high performance combined with energy efficiency.
AMD has announced a new line of desktop processors at the CES 2018. It is a new Raven Ridge series, that combines four Zen generation CPU cores with the latest, most advanced ‘Vega’ graphics technology in a single chip. TheAMD Ryzen 5 2400G processor will not only become a popular choice for less demanding multimedia homes, but also a perfect solution for a custom build PCs without a need for a standalone graphics card.
Key features of the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G processor
4 cores/8 threads
Open multiplier enables further overclocking
Powerful graphics core Vega 11
14nm manufacturing process
It is necessary to use the new AM4 socket motherboard
The Wraith Stealth heatsink included
Raven Ridge APU
Same as the preceding Ryzen processor, the Ryzen 5 2400G is based on AMD's Zen microarchitecture and is fabricated on a 14nm process. As a result, the cores operate at a base frequency of 3.6GHz with a TDP of 65W and a Boost frequency of 3.9GHz. The main advantage is a massive use of SMT technology, similar to MultiThreading technology, which ensures smooth processing of two threads per core.
Furthermore, the integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 processor graphics, with 704 stream processors, delivers fast, smooth and fluid performance on the games you love to play.
Get ready for a big upgrade
The AMD Raven Ridge series is designed for the AM4 socket, so chances are that in addition to the processor itself, you may want to invest in a new motherboard and possibly some DDR4 memory with a maximum frequency of 2933Mhz. This hefty investment is well worth it if you want to enjoy a range of integrated advanced technologies the hardware offers, such as USB 3.1 (USB-C), PCIe 3.0, NVMe, 32Gb/s M.2 slots or SATA Express.
The supported memory type indicates which operating memory the processor can work with without problems. In practice, this primarily means the generation of modules - the most common today are DDR4 and the more modern DDR5. Each processor has precise limits, so if you try to insert a different type, the computer won't find the memory at all and won't start up.
The maximum number of channels expresses how many separate paths the processor can divide the communication with the RAM into. Most common home computers operate with two channels, so it is ideal to install two identical memory modules to double the speed. If the processor offers a dual-channel connection, it pays to always fit memory in pairs; otherwise, unused channels remain "empty" and performance is reduced.

A magasabb TDP érték általában nagyobb teljesítményű processzort jelent. Azonban ahogy nő az értéke, úgy nőnek a hűtési követelmények is. A TDP mértékegysége a watt.
