I don't want to go to AM5 yet because I have a quality expensive board with SC AM4, so I bought this most powerful CPU for this socket. I did some tests on the CB R23 and measured the temperatures. The original CPU I had was a Ryzen 7 3700X and the score on CBR23 with it was 12.456 points. With the new Ryzen 9 5950X CPU I hit 26.786 points, which is once such a rise and a bit, temperatures in max load equal 71 degrees on the waterman and in idle mode 41.7 degrees. For me, I am very satisfied and the kit will last me a few more years.

At the beginning I tried to overclock it out of curiosity, but there is no need. The processor almost overclocks itself to the maximum. On the other hand, I switched to "eco" 65W TDP mode when I found that the performance drops practically unmeasurable (max drop of about 2%, in other benchmarks it is on the contrary more powerful than with standard settings). I'm cooling with air without any problems. Performance is very decent, ffmeg can encode fhd video faster than the playback speed. I didn't go for the 7950x and AM5 because I found the TDP increase in current processors to be nonsense. It's a fad, hopefully it'll die down again. I don't want to deal with an overpriced water cooler and find a couple of cases it can fit in. I found PCIe5 practically unusable so far.

I'm a senior, my computer is primarily for work, but I play more challenging games in the evenings.
After testing the AM5 platform, I decided to stay with AM4, chipset B550 for now and so I only upgraded the CPU, which I lacked to "perfection", because the graphics are sufficient and the 64GB memory is also sufficient for now (although there is never enough memory, but. ), so it was just a matter of processor performance. I wasn't expecting miracles when I switched from the 5700G, I was just hoping for a performance boost with multi-threaded processing in specific programs, compute, compile, VM, Docker and more.
However, I was very pleasantly surprised how everything runs noticeably faster already in the operating system, and the performance in some places has more than doubled, but even single-threaded tasks have improved noticeably (measurable 10-15%). Processor temperatures are very volatile and it is not a problem to have a temperature of 35°C one second, which the next second jumps to double and the next two seconds drops again to 35°C, so you need to adjust the cooling settings in BIOS accordingly, so that the fan speed does not jump up and down. I believe that the processor can be set to perfection and achieve much better results and better temperatures, however, I leave it in the base + automatic PBO according to the standards specified by the manufacturer of the processor and the board, I do not currently have time for detailed tuning and it seems that so far will not be needed. The only thing that surprised me was the increase in the minimum power consumption, at minimum load of the processor, which rose from some ~6W to ~30W which is due to the chiplet design of the CPU, the newer AM5 platform and the current top processors are also chiplet and are unfortunately even worse in the base. For reference, I will list the performance of my piece, with which I am extremely satisfied.
