The Petzl Grigri+ Green belay device is designed for safely belaying both lead and second climbers on rock or indoor climbing walls. Thanks to its cam-assisted blocking mechanism, it's also suitable for top-rope climbing. The special ASSIST+ mode makes taking in slack easier when top-rope belaying, which you'll appreciate when teaching climbing, for example. An ergonomic handle with an anti-panic function makes it easier to control, helping to prevent the climber from being lowered too quickly. The handle, combined with the cam mechanism, creates a 3:1 mechanical advantage, allowing you to smoothly control the descent speed with less effort. For correct rope installation, there are clear pictograms on the outside of the belay device and on the cam itself. Taking in slack, paying out rope, and catching a fall are all performed using the standard technique for Petzl belay devices, with the free end of the rope always held firmly in your hand. The Petzl Grigri+ is compatible with single ropes from 8.5–11 mm in diameter. The belay device has an aluminium body, and its plastic parts, including the handle, are made from recycled polyamide. The device weighs 200g.

Safe use of the Petzl Grigri+ Green belay device
The belay device's handle is equipped with an anti-panic function, which increases safety when lowering a climber and makes it easier to learn. If the user pulls the handle too hard, the anti-panic function activates, disengaging the handle and automatically blocking the rope. To unblock it again, you need to return the handle to its initial position. A button lets you switch the belay device to ASSIST+ mode. In the standard setting, it works like a classic GRIGRI, while in ASSIST+ mode, the cam is slightly raised and continuously blocks the rope. This makes it easy to take in slack, while paying out rope is only possible by using the handle. ASSIST+ mode is particularly practical for top-rope belaying and is also suitable for beginners or children's climbing groups.
